Overview

M&H Valve Company is seeking a Manual Machine Operator in Anniston, AL.

 

Summary:

Sets up and operates manual machines to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts such as castings and bar stock.

Pay: $24.27 per hour

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
  • Proactively promotes The McWane Way principles.
  • Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
  • Uses proper lifting and ergo techniques.
  • Follows detailed job specific instructions to make sure castings are produced in the most efficient manner and to meet customer specifications.
  • Reads blueprints to ensure parts are produced according to required tolerances and specifications.
  • Reads process sheets, blueprints, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machine.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining, and adjusts machine as required.
  • Operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
  • Disposes of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Maintains equipment to production standards to include routine inspections, basic housekeeping, cleaning, and basic preventive maintenance as instructed.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience/GED preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be safety orientated for self and others.
  • Must be willing to work in a team environment.

Language Skills                                               

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                    

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s or equivalent experience. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability                                            

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to take care of problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
